Montessori Studies and Curriculum
WP2 focuses on the pedagogical and scientific foundations of the project. It examines the relevance and applicability of Montessori principles for adult learners, particularly NEET women who are outside formal education and employment. The ultimate goal is to design a flexible, competence-based learning program fostering both personal and professional development.
Scope and Methodology
The work begins with comprehensive research and needs analysis combining literature review, surveys, and interviews. The partners identify barriers faced by NEET women in learning and employment and determine how Montessori-inspired practices — such as autonomy, self-reflection, and experiential learning — can help overcome them.
Drawing on these insights, the consortium develops the MAYA Curriculum, integrating emotional intelligence, creativity, and self-directed learning principles with employability and mentoring components.
Key Activities
- Cross-country research on adult learning methodologies.
- Needs assessment and competence mapping in partner countries.
- Design of the MAYA Curriculum Framework (modules, learning objectives, tools).
- Integration of mentoring and reflection practices into curriculum design.
- Peer review and external validation of educational materials.
Expected Results
- A scientifically grounded curriculum and pedagogical framework tailored to the
learning needs of NEET women. - A solid foundation for developing mentoring tools and open educational resources in
subsequent work packages.
